About Me

Hi, I’m Ferne – a specialist psychotherapist with over a decade of experience in the mental health sector. I work globally with individuals facing anxiety, OCD, panic disorder, agoraphobia, depersonalization/derealization (DPDR), and visual snow syndrome.

My approach is grounded in evidence-based practices like ERP (Exposure and Response Prevention), ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), and MCT (Meta-Cognitive Therapy). I’ll help you tolerate symptoms and retrain your brain to redirect your attention away from troubling thoughts or sensations, allowing them to fade into the background. Recovery isn’t about pushing anxiety away but changing your relationship with it, freeing you from overthinking and avoiding life – as a happy side effect, anxiety naturally reduces and dilutes away. With practice, you’ll create space for what truly matters and rebuild a new fulfilling life.

I founded The Anxious Academy because I saw firsthand how anxiety and related conditions are often misunderstood and mismanaged. Many clients come to me after being told to “just breathe” or “talk about their childhood”- approaches that can often make anxiety worse rather than address it effectively. I wanted to create a space where people could access tools that actually work, grounded in compassion and proven methods.

My passion for this work is deeply personal. I’ve been where you are – recovering from panic disorder, OCD, agoraphobia, visual snow syndrome, DPDR, and bulimia. I know how isolating and overwhelming it can feel. That lived experience shapes how I work: with compassion, relatability, and a commitment to creating a space where nothing is off-limits. Whether it’s intrusive thoughts, fears you think no one else would understand, or struggles you feel stuck in, I promise I’ve heard it, thought it, or worked through it before.

Over the years, I’ve supported clients in settings ranging from psychiatric hospitals to specialist schools, helping them navigate complex challenges with tools that truly work. My focus is on empowering you to step out of fear’s shadow, embrace discomfort, and move toward meaningful, lasting change.

If you’re ready to reclaim your freedom and start building a life that aligns with what truly matters, let’s work together.

About Me

Hi, I’m Andrew.

I’m a qualified psychotherapist specialising in anxiety disorders, OCD, depersonalisation/derealisation (DP/DR), visual snow syndrome (VSS), eating disorders, panic disorder, and agoraphobia. I’m trained in evidence-based approaches including Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Metacognitive Therapy (MCT). These are proven, structured methods that go beyond surface-level symptom management and create meaningful, lasting change.

My approach combines extensive clinical training with personal experience of conditions like panic disorder, OCD, DPDR, visual snow, and eating disorders. I know what it’s like when your own mind feels unfamiliar, and every day feels like a battle just to keep going. I understand how isolating and overwhelming it can be, especially when nothing seems to work and you feel stuck or misunderstood. The fears you think no one else would understand, the thoughts too scary to say out loud – I promise I’ve heard them, thought them, or helped someone through them before. That’s why I do this work: to offer support that cuts through confusion, straightforward, actionable, and grounded in both evidence and empathy.

I founded The Anxious Academy to offer the kind of support I know actually helps: clear, practical, and grounded in evidence. No fluff, no gimmicks, just real, lasting change. I’ve worked with people who felt hopeless, stuck, and completely overwhelmed. Together, we’ve helped them take back control and rebuild lives that feel meaningful again. If anxiety is running the show right now, I’m here to help you change that for good.

Together, we’ll give you the tools to step out of survival mode and start living again. You don’t have to stay stuck in your own mind and body. You’re not broken, and you don’t have to keep living like this. If you’re ready to take that first step, I’m here to help.
